BREAKING: Another Gitmo Prosecutor ResignsWe learned late today that Army Lieutenant Colonel Darrel Vandeveld, the lead prosecutor in the military commissions case against Mohammed Jawad, has resigned in protest because the prosecution team was not providing the defense evidence that could indicate Jawad’s innocence. Jawad was a teenager when he was captured in Afghanistan and he’s one of the two youngest prisoners at Guantánamo. ACLU attorneys Hina Shamsi and Denny LeBoeuf are in Guantánamo right now observing the military commission hearings of the accused 9/11 defendants. We'll have more details soon, so stay tuned!

The servicemen involved in the military commissions know that this system is unconstitutional and un-American. That being said, we must stress that these servicemen are only doing their jobs. All these injustices are not their fault. This authoritarian adminstration is alone to blame.

Kudos to Lt. Col. Vandeveld for his courageous stand against the hypocrisy and illegal actions by the Bush regime.
