Bill O'Reilly: The New Face of Stop-and-Frisk in New YorkThe stop-and-frisk section starts at 1:58. Bill O'Reilly thinks it is "hating America" to be concerned about a racially-biased police tactic that has stripped more than 2 million New Yorkers of their dignity over the past five years. Bill O'Reilly thinks it is "hating America" to question the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a program in which nine-out-of-10 people who are stopped and interrogated by police are completely innocent and let go without any charges or even a citation. Bill O'Reilly thinks it is "hating America" to demand that the NYPD treat all New Yorkers with fairness and dignity in their quest to keep the streets of our city safe. That doesn't sound like hating America to us. That sounds like standing up for equality and justice – sounds pretty American to me.

I never knew it was hating America to oppose racial profiling. Or that all criminals are black. Unbelievable. This is a new low, even for this guy.

"Stop-and-Frisk" is just the tip of the iceberg. Average, law-abiding citizens are being stalked and psychologically terrorized all across this country, but victims of these crimes are written off as "delusional" or "crazy."
What is taking place is an organized, covert movement that is designed to quell dissent and silence those who have been targeted for harassment. I beg the ACLU to try to get to the bottom of an insidious, sadistic practice that is quite literally claiming the lives of some of its victims. As long as these operations are allowed to continue, we are all in jeopardy.

The A.C.L.U. loves what's best about America, what O'Reilly would love is a police state.

When did it become "American" to not question the actions of our government? Bill O'Reilly apparently has never familiarized himself with the ACLU. He calls this organization anti-American, when in my book the ACLU is one of the last organizations attempting to maintain America and her foundation the Constitution. I will continue to question my government and the actions of its vocal citizens like Bill. Without a free exchange of ideas I would wither under the brute calloused opinions of people like BIll. I am thankful he is there to illuminate how far we as America still have to progress.

1. Racial profiling=saving Americans' lives
2. NYCLU=against racial profiling

3. NYCLU=death for Americans

Okay, so according to Bill O'Reilly, the notorious phone sex pervert, since 69% of victims claim their assailants are black that gives the police the right to stop and frisk any black person? Well, I wonder how many of those claim their assailants are also men? Probably a lot more than women, right? Well, following the same argument all men must now be stopped and frisked simply for sharing the same gender as the majority of those who commit violent crimes, even if they themselves are not one. Hey Bill, that puts you in the category! Tackle him before he rapes your daughters!!!

Fascinating, should be interesting to see what this turns up!

Nicole,
You are delusional if you think the ACLU is "attempting to maintain America and her foundation of the Constitution". They pick and choose which parts of the constitution they want to defend. If they defended all parts of the constitution then I would support them but they typically only defend left wing issues. Sure they have the token defend some KKK idiot but by and large they go with cases the undermine the true Americans and their value systems. When have you ever seen the ACLU defend issues surrounding the 2nd Amendment?
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:08am
I'm hopeful that the ACLU will protect the rights of the folk at Tea Parties in Kentucky that read the Constitution as much as they protect terrorists and their supporters. The former seem to be considered by the gov't as the "real" enemies.

From an outsider, I would be hard pressed to visit your country and I have family living there. A police state is already present in America but not acknowledged. Between forced passport papers and on site proof of citizenship, periodic searches at any time, Home Land Security (worse organization / best cover up ever) and a 'greedy mentality' by government, corporations, and citizens (capitalism at it's finest), not forgetting the branded 'go to war over what we want' mentality it maintains even after a recent election. Sometimes you need a comment from the 'outside' to realize how far off the path you have gone.

The only mistake of O'Reilly is always going way over the top with his statements, like the "Hating America". He doesn't need that.
Bill O'Reilly is right though and ACLU is wrong. No reason to be politically correct when New Yorkers safety is on the line. It's not racial profiling, it's statistics that helps to save lives. Thanks to "police tactics" like this NYC is the safest big city! Crime rates are constantly dropping and this happens for a reason. Why jeopardize these tremendous results in safety over some liberal agenda??

If the standard for judging policy is whether more or less people will die given a particular policy, then I have a laundry list of things we need to do.
1. Speed Limit: 5 mph should be the maximum allowable, probably we should just disable everything buy idling speed, and even then someone would probably die, so maybe cars just have to go.
2. Alcohol: This one is obvious, no drunk driving or any of the health problems related to excessive drinking. No one can argue that more people would die with it outlawed than without.
3. Fast Food: .....
The point is, you can't propose the standard for not releasing the photos as being that it will save lives, and that stop and frisk is ok because it will save lives, without having to embrace the entire range of things we could do that would save lives.
So, unless he wants to try and twist his logic back on its head, I'll just assume Mr. O'Reilly supports the 5mph speed limit(or outright banning of automobiles), a prohibition on alcohol and the outlawing of food that is unhealthy.
That tobacco products would also have to be eliminated goes without saying.
Bill sure does love this free country of ours.

It sounds like an invitation to "stop and frisk" O'Reilly the next time he is in New York.
May 22nd, 2009 at 9:12am
Getting stopped and frisked on the street for doing nothing would probably readjust his attitude.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:10am
Bill O'Reilly is EVERYTHING wrong with America.
If you want the antithesis of what our country was founded upon. Everything the strips freedom, liberty and due process O'Reilly is all for.
Dom Imus was booted off the air for hate mongering, recist remarks. While I am nott for censorhsip, it boggles my mind at the number of people that pay attention and give credence to hate mongers such as O'Reilly, Limbaugh and Beck. They call everyone else "Un-American", when it is THEY that are the most Un-American of all.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:20am
I believe nearly 100% of the people who commit violent crimes in NYC wear shoes. The police should just setup checkpoints at every intersection and frisk everyone wearing shoes.
This is behavioral profiling, which is shown to be more effective than racial profiling, and doing this will be a good use of police resources.
Also if you don't agree with this, you hate america and you want people to die.

I love Bill O'Reilly!!
O'Reilly= PATRIOT
ACLU= PINHEAD

Wake up wing nuts a Liberal who you think is evil incarnate is in power.Do you really want to be on the recieving end of such treatment?
May 23rd, 2009 at 2:17pm
As much as I hate to say it, racial profiling is nessesary. I have been mistaken for being hispanic many of times. I would be walking down the side-walk in CA. and would be stopped by the border patrol asking for identification. Rather than argue I would cooperate and produce it, and they looked pretty silly when they found my last name to be Norwegian and my birrhplace Providence, Rhode Island. Another example of this is if a young child (God forbid) were sexually assaulted. I would not be on the lookout for a black man but of a white suspect, the same goes with white collar crimes. Stereotypes exist, weather we like it or not...what thoughts go through your heads on the left when you hear the words "born-again christian"? EVERYONE profiles!

@Paul NY:
"Thanks to “police tactics” like this NYC is the safest big city!"
Far be it from me to accept a police state, to accept that in the eyes of law enforcement we are all criminals who just haven't been caught yet, to be subject to bodily search for simply walking down the street, in exchange for a modicum of misplaced faith that the police or the government or whomever is going to keep me safe. Too many New Yorkers, yourself included, seem disturbingly all too willing to bend over backwards at the expense of their civil liberties, and to the detriment of NYCs culture, out of blind faith that the illusion of safety might be just that much more believable.
i'll trust my own street smarts, and my own ability and willingness to stand up for myself, thank you very much. The best way to fight crime isn't to rely on law enforcement--it's to make it clear that you won't be a victim.

Paen...The wing-nuts know that the Liberal in the White House believes in our Constitution and will not do anything to remove the rights we all have left.
May 26th, 2009 at 2:40pm
Sorry Roald but after listening To Obama's speech on Prolonged Detention I don't think Obama believes in people's rights.
May 28th, 2009 at 11:54am
I think that Bill O'Reilly is completely correct. You would have to be a complete idiot to disagree with him! If you are not committing crimes, than you have nothing to worry about. Blacks segregate and opress themselves. They are the ones who want everything seperate. As far as racial profiling, no such thing if you are a true American. Illegals are criminals and should have no rights in this country. If you see a van load of Mexicans, it is very likely that most of them are going to be illegal. The only way to find out is to pull them over and find out. Duh! And if someone looks like they are up to no good, doesn't matter what color, 9 times out of 10 they are!
I guarantee, O'Reilly would have no problem being frisked and searched if it meant keeping this country safe.

I just want my rights considered instead of having to give them up to accomodate certain groups-

accomodate anymore immigrants!
I just want to live for the rights that so many men and womwen have died for.
(This does not include wars that had nothing to do with us. IE Viet Nam, etc.)
I DO NOT OWE ANY OTHER COUNTRY OR ILLEGAL ALIEN or NATIONALITY ANYTHING!
I DO NOT OWE ANY PARTICULAR ETHNIC GROUP ANYTHING!!!!
It is the AMERICAN constitution not another foreign entity's!!!
(Even though my constitution has been abused and manipulated by certain groups to get their way!)
Keep selling America!!! There is hardly anything left for the American citizen
anymore anyway.

Capt. Spastic, looks like you need to take your ritalin and apply for one of those free college rides that BO is offering, or at least learn how to use spell check. Maybe that will free your mind enough to think straight. And Matt, thinking like yours (if that is a proper label for your rambling) is dangerous and led to the state we are in today. Oh the grass is green, some houses are green, therefore some houses must be grass....O'Reilly bases his reporting on facts. He is the most fair reporter I have heard in years and he has the balls to make statements like that. If you don't like the way things are based on facts and statistics, then feel free to relocate to a country where you will fit in. With as much whining you seem to do, I think your best bet would be to find the island that Gilligan was on. If you are thirsty after readin his, I got a big pitcher of Kool-aid for y'all.

I would say for the ACLU to attack personalities is low. They should not be a smearing ANY PARTIES! This is an abuse of power
Oct 22nd, 2009 at 6:58am
When the ACLU is going to stop giving a pass to Obama's attack to our civil liberties?
