2005 - WASKAR ARI (Bolivian Aymara Indian Scholar) Waskar Ari earned a Ph.D. in history from Georgetown University. Ari is a scholar of the religious beliefs and political activism among indigenous Bolivians. After accepting an assistant professor position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he applied for a work visa. In the summer of 2005, he was informed, without explanation, that his student visa had been revoked. The government has not acted on the pending work visa application.
