Why? Because of the color of his skin? Because of the language he's speaking? Because he's doing yard work?
The fact is there is no way to tell who is documented and who is not. If SB 1070 is allowed to go into effect, American citizens WILL be subjected to racial profiling. People in this country legally will be stopped, interrogated and harassed simply because of what they look like or the language they are speaking.
That's not right and it's not constitutional. Help us protect the Constitution. Help us stop SB 1070. What Happens in Arizona, Stops in Arizona.

No, of course I wouldn't and neither would law enforcement. I've read the Arizona law. The man in the video was not engaged in illegal activity.

Lakepapa - I have also read the law and believe that he would. He is engaged in being outdoors while brown, a very similar crime to driving while black.

The key phrase in the law is whether "lawful contact" requires illegal activity or only a suspicion.
Apparently there is an effort to modify the law to clarify this. The language of the law’s sentence regarding “lawful contact” may be changed to “lawful stop, detention or arrest.”
I think this rewording would be an improvement.

The Arizona law would specifically PROHIBIT detaining this man and asking for his papers. Why is the ACLU deliberately misrepresenting this law?

@Lakepapa He could be perceived as engaging in illegal activity, if the person doing the perceiving believes he is earning wages illegally (working and being paid "under the table," not paying taxes on earnings, etc).
