D.C.: What Are You Doing Tonight?

Hopefully you'll be at Reckoning with Torture, an ACLU and PEN American Center event at Georgetown Law Center tonight at 7 p.m. that will feature writers, artists and members of Congress reading from declassified torture documents.

**IT'S FREE!!**

Tonight's event will bring to life the words that enabled torturers to commit unspeakable acts against prisoners in the name of the "war on terror."

It will also highlight the voices of the detainees themselves, describing their treatment in U.S. custody.

So if you're in the D.C. area, join us tonight.

In the wake of the release of the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) report (PDF) and the Justice Department's decision to reject OPR's findings (PDF), it's even more crucial that Americans take action and demand accountability for the torture that was done in our name.

If you can't join us, watch the event stream live (starting at 7 p.m.) here.

And if you haven't already, send a message to Attorney General Eric Holder calling on him to expand the scope of the DOJ's investigation to include the senior Bush administration officials who authorized torture.

A Blog of Rights Service Announcement: We are currently implementing some exciting new changes to this website. While we work on this, blog comments have been disabled. But they'll be back up ASAP, so hold that thought and you'll be able to submit your comment soon.
