First Fast - Fast for Life
Wherever you are on the First Day of Every Month 
 
It doesn't matter where you are! You are all invited to join in a Fast for Life on the first day of each month. If a strict fast is difficult or impossible for you, just do juices or avoid animal products or don't eat chocolate! Then, simply tell folks around you what you are doing and why. This is an easy as well as spiritual and healthy way to spread some hope and educate others about the death penalty at the same time.

• Remembrance: Universal Children's Day (UN). This is a good opportunity to call for the abolition of the death penalty for juvenile offenders.

• Remembrance: International Humans Rights Day, commemorating the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Contact your local Amnesty International chapter to get involved, call 800-AMNESTY, or visit www.amnestyusa.org.

• Remembrance: Bill of Rights Day. Per the death penalty, those rights include fair trial (6^th Amendment), due process (5^th and 14^th Amendments), and the right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment (8^th Amendment). Contact your local ACLU to get involved: www.aclu.org
