Dismal High School Graduation Rate Violates Florida Constitution, Says ACLU (3/18/2008)
The ACLU has filed a class action lawsuit against the School Board of Palm Beach County and the Palm Beach Superintendent of schools. Nearly 1 in 3 Palm Beach County students does not graduate with a regular high school diploma within four years, and there are significant disparities between the graduation rates of Black and Latino students and those of white students. The lawsuit charges that Palm Beach county's dismally low graduation rates violate the state constitutional mandate of a "uniform, efficient, safe, secure, and high quality education."
