1) Tape
it up.
Use
our
privacy
tape as a fun way to make a serious statement.
Tape your web page, blog, desk or front door to declare it
a “Privacy Line -- Do Not Cross.”
2) Declare your opposition.
Pass
a resolution through
your student council or administration declaring that
your school will not abide by Patriot Act policies that erode
civil liberties.
3) Feel free to read.
Organize
a campaign to check
out all the books from your school or community library
that were once banned. Ask your librarians
and computer lab staff to post signs detailing the implications
of the Patriot Act on library and computer privacy.
4) Take it to the streets.
Plan a sandwich
board action. Here's your chance to tell the public "My
library book, The
Joy of Sex, is three weeks overdue," before the government
tells everyone for you!
5) Spell out your rights.
Clarify your school’s dorm/locker
search procedures and information privacy policies, and write
an editorial to your school or local newspaper explaining
these policies in light of the Patriot
Act’s problems.

6) Get your friends involved.
Send them an email
postcard right now!
7) Sign people up.
Start a petition to address an
important Patriot
Act concern at your school
or in your community. Once you have reached your goal of
signatures, present the petition to the school administration
at an assembly or to city council at a town meeting.
8) Teach your teachers.
Ask your social studies, government
or civics teacher(s) to incorporate civil liberties and the
Patriot Act into a lesson, and offer to provide them with
materials
to facilitate the effort.
9) Get Active.
Subscribe to
the ACLU Action Network and receive monthly emails that
help you oppose the Patriot Act and other civil liberties
violations.
10) Get entertained.
...And get educated in the process.
Watch
the movie, and then send friends the link.
