Sarah Mehta is the Aryeh Neier Fellow at Human Rights Watch and the ACLU’s Human Rights Program, working to advance to due process protections in immigration proceedings for persons with mental disabilities. As a law student at Yale, Sarah was a student director of the Prison Litigation clinic and participated in the International Human Rights Clinic, Capital Punishment Clinic and the Criminal Defense project. Sarah was an articles editor of the Yale Human Rights and Development Law Journal and was director of the Civil Rights Project. During her summers, she worked on juvenile justice in Mississippi and civil rights abuses in Louisiana. Prior to law school, Sarah worked as a consultant on South Asia for the Pew Forum and was the assistant to the ACLU Human Rights Program. She was a Fulbright Scholar in India from 2005-2006 working on discrimination against Muslims in social service delivery. Sarah holds a B.A. from Brown University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
