In this letter, the ACLU urges members of congress to include testing, treatment, and much-needed COVID-19 relief in order to protect the health and future of the country. The ACLU calls for the inclusion of these four provisions in the next federal COVID-19 relief package: (1) testing and treatment for everyone who needs it under emergency Medicaid; (2) cash assistance for anyone who files taxes; (3) automatic work authorization extensions for those with DACA, TPS, and nonimmigrant visas; (4) the release of people in immigration detention and the suspension of enforcement actions. It is critical that the above recommendations are included in the final version of COVID-19 relief legislation in order to make our communities and our country healthier.
