Available for download is letter recommending members of the House Armed Services Committee vote NO on two amendments: the Fleming amendment, which would only permit the military to deny a request to accommodate religion if doing so would actually harm good order and discipline and could lead to claims of a right to discriminate against LGBT members, women, and religious minorities; and the Jones Amendment, which would permit military chaplains to engage in sectarian prayer at non-voluntary events and thus would force service members of diverse faiths to participate in these sectarian prayers. Both amendments were adopted by the committee.
