ACLU and NCLR Halt Legal Action After Promise from California Adoption Agency that It Won't Discriminate (10/05/2005)
LOS ANGELES - The American Civil Liberties Union and the National Center for Lesbian Rights announced today that they would no longer pursue legal action against an Orange County-based adoption agency after the agency signed a binding agreement with the state that it would no longer discriminate against applicants based on sexual orientation.

ACLU Asks Court to Require Immediate Action to Stop Harassment of Gay and Transgender Youth at Hawaii Juvenile Detention Facility (10/04/2005)
HONOLULU - The American Civil Liberties Union has asked a federal court to order the state's juvenile detention facility to take immediate action to halt harassment and abuse of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender wards. The ACLU's motion for a preliminary injunction aims to force Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility (HYCF) to implement policies and training to protect LGBT youth in its care.

Michigan Marriage Amendment Does Not Reach the Workplace, Judge Rules (09/27/2005)
LANSING, MI -- In a victory for Michigan same-sex couples, a state judge ruled today that public employers are not prohibited from offering domestic partner benefits to employees. The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan on behalf of 21 same-sex couples who were in danger of losing health care benefits after the state adopted a constitutional amendment banning marriage for same-sex couples in November 2004.
