FBI: Monitoring Occupy was within rules (sfgate.com)

The FBI claims its surveillance of the First Amendment protected activities of protestors who planned the Port of Oakland shutdown did not violate federal rules protecting privacy or free speech. The ACLU of Northern California is continuing to seek FBI records on its surveillance of the Occupy movement that it has refused to release.
