Press Room: S.B. 1070 at the Supreme Court
![]() |
The ACLU, along with its affiliates and coalition partners, has played a leading role in the fight against S.B. 1070-type laws, filing lawsuits in Arizona as well as the five other states that enacted copycat laws – Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, South Carolina and Utah. The laws authorize police to rely on their racial bias to determine who is undocumented, inviting racial profiling.
