Andre Segura is a staff attorney at the Immigrants’ Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union. His practice centers on immigration enforcement abuses by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Currently, he is litigating cases challenging anti-immigrant state laws, including Arizona’s SB1070 and similar legislation in five other states. Andre also participated in the trial against Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for maintaining a policy and practice of targeting Latino drivers and passengers during traffic stops. Andre is a regular commentator on immigrants’ rights issues on both English and Spanish media outlets.
Andre was previously a Marvin M. Karpatkin Fellow with the ACLU’s Racial Justice Program, a litigation fellow with the ACLU’s Northern California affiliate, and law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Napoleon A. Jones, Jr. He received a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2006 and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
