Dear Attorney General Mukasey,
We are writing in advance of the briefing by the Department of Justice on the pending revisions to the Attorney General investigative guidelines (the ‘guidelines’) this Friday, September 12 at 10:00 am.
We welcome this opportunity for dialogue with the Department of Justice ahead of the scheduled implementation of the revised guidelines. Because a meaningful exchange will require an opportunity to review the proposed changes to the guidelines prior to the briefing, we respectfully request that a copy of these revised guidelines be distributed to the invited community and civil liberties organizations before 2:30 pm on Thursday, September 11.
