Howard Rheingold, author and cyberspace expert (3/20/1996)

HOWARD RHEINGOLD

Howard Rheingold, an expert on communities in cyberspace, is the author of numerous books about technology and its effects on people and institutions. His books, which include The Virtual Community (HarperCollins 1994), Virtual Reality (Touchstone 1993), and Tools for Thought (Simon & Shuster, 1985), have been translated into French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Swedish. 

Rheingold also writes "Tomorrow," a column syndicated by King Features, about the Internet and its effects on communities, and is one of the creators and a former founding Executive Editor of HotWired, the online World Wide Web multimedia publication of Wired Ventures. 

Rheingold lives in Mill Valley, California, with his wife of 28 years, Judith, and his 11-year-old daughter, Mamie.
