November 7, 2006 — Today, we have won a great victory for women's health. This is a huge victory for South Dakota and for all Americans. Our organizations thank the good people of South Dakota who acted decisively to protect women's health and to protect the right to decide freely whether and when to become a parent. We believe this decision sends a strong message to elected officials in South Dakota and throughout the U.S.: Even in one of the most conservative states, Americans will not stand by and allow politicians to endanger the lives and health of women by restricting their constitutional rights.
