ACLU Calls on South Dakotans to Join the Effort to Stop Extreme Abortion Ban (03/24/2006)
PIERRE, SD - The American Civil Liberties Union of the Dakotas today joined a broad coalition to stop South Dakota’s extreme and dangerous ban on virtually all abortions. The newly formed group, the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families, called upon South Dakotans today to sign a petition that would place a repeal of the abortion ban on the November ballot.

WASHINGTON - The National Abortion Federation (NAF) and the American Civil Liberties Union today called on the U.S. Supreme Court to hold women’s health paramount as the Court agreed to review a ruling striking down the “Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003.” Both groups urged the Court to affirm the decision below based on three decades of legal precedent protecting women’s health.

ACLU and National Abortion Federation Hail Two Appeals Court Rulings Holding Federal Abortion Ban Unconstitutional (01/31/2006)
NEW YORK - The National Abortion Federation (NAF) and the American Civil Liberties Union today praised two rulings holding the “Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003” unconstitutional. The decisions came out of federal appeals courts in New York and California. These rulings join an Eighth Circuit decision holding the ban unconstitutional.

WASHINGTON - The American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) welcomed today's decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, et al, which unanimously recognized its precedent that abortion laws must protect women's health and safety.
