College May Offer Abortion Pill (04/27/2001)
AMES, IA-- Iowa State University Student Health officials have not ruled out offering the abortion pill at the campus clinic, but they said no decision will be made in the near future, the Iowa State Daily reported. According to the Daily, if students express interest and ISU health administrators recommend offering Mifeprex, the abortion pill approved by the Food and Drug Administration in September, Iowa State could become one of only a handful of universities to offer the controversial drug, said Marc Shulman, chief of staff at the ISU Student Health Center.

DENVER, CO -- Recognizing the critical need of young women facing a medical crisis to have immediate access to abortion, a U.S. District Court in Colorado today held unconstitutional a law that would have prevented pregnant teens from getting an abortion unless they notified a parent.

NJ Supreme Court Strikes Down Parental Notification for Abortion Act, Protecting Teen Rights and Safety (08/15/2000)
TRENTON, NJ -- Reaffirming the fundamental right of young women to choose to terminate their pregnancies, the New Jersey State Supreme Court, in a 4 to 2 decision, today struck down a law that would have prevented pregnant teens from getting an abortion unless they notified a parent or obtained a court order. The law did not impose a similar requirement on minors seeking other pregnancy-related care.

Appeals Court Finds Kentucky Abortion Ban Unconstitutional (07/31/2000)
LOUISVILLE, KY - Taking its lead from the Supreme Court's ruling last month in Stenberg v. Carhart, a federal appeals court today upheld a lower court's decision striking down Kentucky's ban on so-called "partial-birth abortion."

New Jersey Court Ruling on Abortion Ban Protects Women's Health and Lives, ACLU Says (07/27/2000)
NEWARK, NJ -- The American Civil Liberties Union is encouraged by a decision of the court of appeals striking down a deceptively vague and dangerous law that would have put women's health at risk and banned all of the safest, most commonly used methods of abortion throughout pregnancy.
