ACLU Calls on House Judiciary Committee to Protect Reproductive Freedom On Eve of Roe v. Wade Anniversary (01/21/2004)
WASHINGTON - On the eve of the anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade decision, the American Civil Liberties Union today urged Congress to oppose the so-called "Unborn Victims of Violence Act," which is scheduled for markup in the House Judiciary Committee this morning, saying that pregnant women can be protected without adopting the bill's approach of undermining the right to choose abortion.

Florida Court Refuses to Appoint Guardian for a Fetus (01/09/2004)
DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The American Civil Liberties Union, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Florida NOW applauded today's decision by a Florida court of appeal blocking an attempt that would have opened up the floodgates of government intrusion into the private lives of women in Florida. The case involved a request to appoint a guardian for the fetus of a severely disabled woman.

Medical Providers and Reproductive Rights Groups Applaud Court Decision Overturning New Hampshire Parental Notification for Abortion Law (12/29/2003)
CONCORD, NH -The United States Federal District Court in Concord today declared New Hampshire's recently enacted parental notification law unconstitutional, ruling in favor of a group of New Hampshire medical providers who claimed that the law violated a young woman's fundamental right to an abortion in order to protect her health, in a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).

CINCINNATI -The American Civil Liberties Union is troubled by today's decision by a federal appeals court upholding Ohio's ban on so-called ""partial-birth abortion."" Though the law differs significantly from the federal ban, the law still endangers women's health, taking critical medical decisions out of the hands of doctors.
