ACLU Asks Appeals Court to Protect Teens’ Access to Reproductive Health Care (02/06/2007)
DENVER - The American Civil Liberties Union today asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit to protect teens’ access to confidential reproductive health care. In a friend-of-the-court brief filed with the court, the ACLU said an opinion issued by the former Attorney General of Kansas intimidates teens from seeking medical care, and puts their health and safety at risk.

Federal Judge Blocks Effort to Revive Dormant Illinois Law Restricting Teenagers' Access to Abortion (02/06/2007)
CHICAGO, IL - U.S. District Court Judge David Coar today rebuffed an effort by the Illinois Attorney General's office to lift a 1996 injunction barring enforcement of the Illinois Parental Notice Act, which restricts teenagers' access to abortion. The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois welcomed the ruling.

ACLU Applauds House Introduction of “Prevention First” Legislation (02/06/2007)
Washington - The American Civil Liberties Union applauded the introduction of the Prevention First Act by Representatives Louise Slaughter (D - NY) and Diana DeGette (D - CO) in the House of Representatives. Like the companion bill introduced by Senator Harry Reid (D - NV), the Prevention First Act is a packet of proposals aimed at improving women’s reproductive health and reducing the need for abortion by preventing unintended pregnancies.

ACLU Urges Wisconsin Court to Uphold Decision Allowing Discipline of Pharmacist Who Refused to Refill a Prescription for Birth Control Pills (02/05/2007)
MADISON – The American Civil Liberties Union today urged a Wisconsin court to affirm a lower court decision upholding the state’s discipline of a pharmacist who refused to refill a prescription for birth control pills without ensuring that the patient would be able to get her medication.

PHOENIX - The American Civil Liberties Union today applauded a decision by an Arizona court of appeals allowing women prisoners to obtain timely, safe, and legal abortions.

ACLU Says Rhode Island Department of Education Failed to Adequately Review Harmful Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Curriculum (12/18/2006)
PROVIDENCE, RI - The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island today said the state Department of Education had failed to adequately review a harmful abstinence-only-until-marriage curriculum developed by Heritage of Rhode Island before letting it back into the schools. In a five-page letter submitted to the department today, the ACLU urged officials to reconsider the decision, saying that the curriculum raises serious medical accuracy and discrimination concerns.

ACLU Files Free Speech Lawsuit Against Rhode Island College for Censoring Reproductive Rights Signs (12/04/2006)
PROVIDENCE, RI - The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island today filed a federal lawsuit against Rhode Island College (RIC) for censoring signs posted by students in support of reproductive freedom. The lawsuit charges that the college's restrictive sign policy, which was adopted after the student signs were removed, violates the First Amendment.

ACLU Celebrates Victory for Women’s Health As South Dakotans Defeat Extreme Abortion Ban (11/08/2006)
PIERRE, SD — The American Civil Liberties Union today celebrated the defeat of a dangerous and extreme ban on virtually all abortions in South Dakota. A referendum to repeal the ban was on yesterday’s ballot in the statewide election.
