ACLU Applauds Defeat of Abortion Ban in Mississippi (03/28/2006)
JACKSON, MS -- The American Civil Liberties Union today applauded the defeat of a dangerous and extreme abortion ban late last night in the Mississippi legislature.

PIERRE, SD - The American Civil Liberties Union of the Dakotas today joined a broad coalition to stop South Dakota’s extreme and dangerous ban on virtually all abortions. The newly formed group, the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families, called upon South Dakotans today to sign a petition that would place a repeal of the abortion ban on the November ballot.
ACLU Hails Rhode Island Department of Education Efforts to Stop the Use of Harmful "Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage" Curriculum in Public Schools (03/22/2006)
PROVIDENCE, RI -- Responding to a complaint filed by the Rhode Island American Civil Liberties Union last September, the state’s Department of Education (DOE) issued an advisory to all school districts last week, instructing them to stop using a federally funded abstinence-only-until-marriage curriculum in the public schools. Today the ACLU hailed the development, arguing that the curriculum had raised serious privacy and discrimination concerns and needed to be stopped.
ACLU Troubled By Appeals Court Decision Allowing Anti-Choice License Plate in Tennessee (03/17/2006)
CINCINNATI – The American Civil Liberties Union said it was troubled by a Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals decision today allowing an anti-abortion specialty license plate in Tennessee. In promoting an anti-choice plate, while opposing a pro-choice one, the state has set up a discriminatory scheme, the ACLU said.

ACLU and National Abortion Federation Hail Two Appeals Court Rulings Holding Federal Abortion Ban Unconstitutional (01/31/2006)
NEW YORK - The National Abortion Federation (NAF) and the American Civil Liberties Union today praised two rulings holding the “Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003” unconstitutional. The decisions came out of federal appeals courts in New York and California. These rulings join an Eighth Circuit decision holding the ban unconstitutional.
