Holding Phone Companies Accountable
The ACLU of Nebraska filed an informal complaint on May 24, 2006, for the Public Service Commission to investigate whether Verizon and AT&T have shared customers' phone records with the NSA. This complaint was not acted upon; the ACLU followed with a formal complaint on July 25, 2006. Both phone companies have responded; AT&T filed a motion to dismiss, and on January 22, 2007, the PSC declined to investigate. Learn more >>
