Undercover police spied on protesters at Occupy LA (latimes.com)
December 11, 2011
The Los Angeles Police Department infiltrated the Occupy LA encampment with undercover officers, used video surveillance, and monitored internet chat and social-networking sites in order to spy on protesters’ activities. The LAPD defended the surveillance operation as a necessary response to reports of protesters advocating violence against police and said a “key concern” was the presence of individuals belong to or affiliated with “radical organizations.”
