ACLU Teams up with Lewis Black to Encourage Students and Young People to Defend Civil Liberties (1/28/2005)

The American Civil Liberties Union is sponsoring Lewis Black's sold-out show Saturday at San Francisco's historic Warfield Theater to encourage students and young people to take a stand in defending their civil liberties. The show is the latest endeavor in the ACLU's youth outreach initiative.

"The ACLU is proud to team up with Lewis Black to motivate young people to take action and defend their rights," said Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director of the ACLU.

At the show, the audience will be encouraged to join the ACLU's national Action Network, which informs individuals about critical civil liberties issues such as the Patriot Act, free speech, privacy and racial justice and encourages them to contact their elected officials in order to initiate change.

About Lewis Black
Lewis Black is the unstoppable, loose cannon political commentator of the "Back in Black"segment on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, his television acting credits include "Homicide,""Law and Order"and "Mad About You."

As a stand-up comedian, he has performed at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, numerous clubs across the country including New York's "Caroline's"and Boston's "Comedy Connection"and regularly appears on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."Black is also a regular on the national college comedy circuit where he performs hundreds of shows every year.
