The ACLU's Voting Rights Project has worked to protect the
gains in political participation won by racial and language minorities since the 1965
passage of the Voting Rights Act.
Voter Empowerment Cards are designed to inform voters of their rights and responsibilities on election day to avoid problems when casting a ballot. Along with downloadable cards in English and en Español, there is information about voter registration forms, absentee ballot applications, polling place locators and contact information for the ACLU in your state and for your state's election authority.
The ACLU, along with seven national organizations, participates in Right to Vote, a national coalition to end felony disfranchisement policies.
The ACLU is also conducting an ex-felon public education and mobilization campaign with affiliates in Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina and Southern California, to educate ex-felons about their voting rights and to encourage them to vote.
