Female and Minority Custodians in New York Can Keep Benefits Won in Discrimination Case, Judge Rules (09/12/2006)
NEW YORK -- A federal judge in Brooklyn has upheld job benefits for female and minority school custodians in a case that has been in the courts for the past ten years. The American Civil Liberties Union, which represents 22 of 59 custodians who were awarded benefits in 1999, called the decision an important victory against discrimination in the workplace.

LOUIS, MO -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri and the ACLU Women’s Rights Project filed a lawsuit today on behalf of a family that was denied a permit to live in the city of Black Jack because of a law that prohibits more than three people from living together unless they are related by “blood, marriage or adoption.”

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA -- The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Louisiana today announced victory in a lawsuit filed on behalf of thirteen-year-old eighth grader Michelle Selden who sought to have the same educational opportunities as boys. The Livingston Parish School Board has agreed to refrain from segregating students on the basis of sex in the coming school year.
