Because freedom can't protect itself
What happened to "Spare the rod, spoil the child"?
Not everyone believes that the Bible can serve as a child-rearing manual.
Only a christian could find solace in the physical assault of a child in order to teach her right from wrong.
Ignorant people love to quote "Spare, the rod, spoil the child" as if it were actually in the Bible. It is not. Like many other dubious Biblical dictums, it has gone the way of the Model-T Ford or the buggy whip.
The "rod" the Bible speaks of is not for striking. It is a staff like that of a shepherd used for guiding.
We all should welcome the decision. It will surely create a good environment at Institute.
