The same thing happened to me with UPS. I drive the pm air. In Aug. 2009 I found out I was expecting asked UPS center manager what coverages UPS had and was called the very next day by the company's occupational nurse and told not to report back to work until after I had my baby. I was 3 months along with NO restrictions. I called the union rep. and the attorney the Teamsters had on retainer. They both told me UPS could do this. After being off without pay, I recevied noticed my health insurance was being cancelled. I talked to my Dr. and told him of this situation. He wrote a letter to UPS stating it was against the law and I had NO restrictions. They let me come back to work. no retro pay, no unemployment nothing. I then was put on light duty in my 8th month and was given Short Term Disability and my insurance was protected. It is a horrible ordeal to go thru at such an exciting time in your life.
