We can all still knock people for being from Jersey though, right? ;-p
How is this not the fault of her parents. They are the ones that actually messed up her life.
Also why is it painted as negative that she has to work her way through school like so many others that never get aid? What a spoiled brat when you boil it down.
What do you mean "instead" of someone who embodied the American dream? She lived the American dream just as all the immigrants before her who arrived with nothing...she started at the bottom, worked the low paying jobs, scrimped and saved and got her education by truly working for it. How many first generation Americans throughout history have made it to college? Tell her to ask her Italian and Irish neighbors how many generations lived in the US before someone finally got into college in their family, and managed to pay for it. In the long run, she will be better off for that experience. The perseverance and resourcefulness it took to get through school without aid is much more valuable of a trait in an employee than the content of the classes she took.
