Because freedom can't protect itself
It is absolutely disgusting that this kind of thing happens! it is illegal to discriminate against someone based on their sexuality! This is discrimination! A persons sexuality is no ones business but their own!! I am a mother of six grown children! I would not have wanted anyone else but my kids tell me if they are gay! And yes! I'm speaking from experience! It is up to the child to tell when they are ready! Or not tell if they choose not to!! Shame on everyone who agrees with narcing out a child!! You're giving them less and less people to be able to confide in! Just disgusting!
...and if that blood does wind up on his hands he will no doubt be joyous because he would gladly kill every GLBT person in the world if he could. He is human filth.
Marcus Wayman was a young man and not a "teen". No one who is 18 or older is a "teen", regardless of the suffix. The homophobic legislator in Tennessee is not worthy of being a legislator. Regardless of age, people should have the right to not disclose their sexual orientation to other people.
It is absolutely appropriate for parental communication when ANY underage child is involved with police or other governmental or medical entities. ANY non-inclusion VIOLATES parental rights.
If there is a concern over parental reaction or subsequent actions, there are plenty of third party resources available. This would be a much better use of ACLU time and money than bullying schools over mis-identification of discrimination.
