Because freedom can't protect itself
The U.S. is at a real disadvantage in the war on terror. Reason is that the U.S. doesn't have the guts to fight this kind of war. I was talking to a friend that told me that even if we could water board a terrorist to save a entire u.s. city that it shouldn't be done. WoW! Now, we are in a fetal postion over drone strikes. If the terrorist had an I.Q. of ..oh, say 4 1/2 he could calculate the he should surround his den with innocent women and children and sacrifice him so he can live another day to blow himself up in a kindergarten. Sounds dark doens't it? This enemy is willing to take the fight to a level that we can't go due to our lack of ability to understand that this enemy is defeated only by power. Not by imposing rules on ourselves that tie our hands. I would say that ..Frankly, we have little chance of winning. But, wait a minute" Atlease we will be nice!
Yes! Lets abandon all of our principles because we're afraid of the slim chance of being killed by terrorists! Great idea! What could possibly go wrong?
I totally agree with Derrick,
When the enemy has a different set of rules than we do, we are bound to lose. People just don't understand what needs to be done. People are also clueless to the fact that our soldiers when captured are tortured and then killed. If we don't play by the same ruthless rules they play by then we might as well admit defeat now.
