Because freedom can't protect itself
I think that the real difference is that, while young people care about their privacy, they don't understand that how they are using social media is "giving away" their privacy.
The poll likely asked if they "cared" about privacy. If it had asked how many unflattering pictures of themselves they have posted, one could get a completely different view.
I'm a millennial and nearly my mid-20s. I completely agree with Bob Collins.
