Because freedom can't protect itself
Unbelievable! Capt. Fields is lucky he wasn't fired. Seems to me his actions in this particular situation cast doubt on his ability to perform his day-to-day duties.
This man has totally misunderstood the message and walk Jesus set for us. He also does not seem to understand the Constitution of the United States that he swore to uphold. (Which given the state of this Nation and the corporations/politicians that are running it.. it is confusing for most people/sheeple) He should not have sworn his oath if he believed it would "infringe" upon his beliefs. At this time he should be given desk duty or he should resign.
Thank you Mr. Smith. Attitudes like yours are why some of us still feel pride in our police forces. Your words mean that I will have a smile on my face the next time I interact with a police officer.
Again: Thank You.
Officer Fields is a disgrace to his badge and his attitude is very un-Christian! Jesus would never have condoned such a un-Christian behaviour.
Thank you for holding him accountable to his actions and bringing his prejudice to light. My brother was a police officer in the NYPD, he was also an Arab-American and a Muslim. He died at the age of 27, the level of respect shown by his fellow officers at his funeral was just amazing. The fact that every single one of them gave there condolences, no matter their position showed how much of a brotherhood law enforcement is. Officer Fields may have refused to attend that service or worse he may have refused to cover him in the line of duty. He should not keep his job if people have to worry about whether or not he feels he should do his job.
He should resign.
