Because freedom can't protect itself
I hate to sound totally self-centered about it but there's really only one thing from 1986 that I care about, that I see as the most positive thing that ever happened - at least in my own life, hence the self-centered concern - and that was the birth of my daughter. I have no memory of any immigration reform being signed then, but I was a teenager, technically speaking. I didn't like watching the news back then either.
But everyone knows Reagan was a Republican president. Not one I voted for though, b/c I was too young to vote for HIM.
I remember the Iran-Contra arms-for-hostages scandal and Jim Bakker and Tammy Fay.
