Because freedom can't protect itself
Doesn't anyone read these articles anymore? I see almost no comments on articles about privacy. ACLU is in the minority, worrying about privacy when most people seem to be ok with it. That's quite unfortunate!
Well, I don't think Edward Snowden is any kind of HERO for what he did either. He did it out of spite more than the desire to truly help someone, and he committed the crime of hacking into government records that nobody authorized him to have in order to accomplish the task.
That crap that he said about wanting to get a gun and force his way into where President Obama was just got on my last nerve and proved way beyond doubt that spite was one of his motives when doing it.
Excuse me if that doesn't make me fall down and worship the ground he walks on, but I'm never going to call him a hero.
And someone in my family died on September 11. He died bc our so-called GOVERNment claims they didn't know what was coming, but I found out at the 9/11 Commission Hearings that THAT was a big lie. "All systems were blinking red?" And they didn't have a clue that SOMEthing was going to happen. What a load of hooey. I think they were spying on people ever since my world began and even before that. I was convinced they knew something was going to happen even beFORE I read the article about George Bush Junior being warned 6 whole separate times before it happened. The article held no surprises, just massive disappointments and more grief.
I don't agree with 100% transparency any more than I support 100% covert information. I don't agree with going to extremes in either direction.
I think that going to extremes is what's wrong with the world.
