Because freedom can't protect itself
I like how over the years the ACLU has slowly given the criminals more rights and the police less. There was once a time when people feared and respected the police. Now they are accusing the justice system of being addicted to incarceration and not taking into account public safety, fairness and cost effectiveness. That's like an environmental group calling to reduce the carbon footprint but doesn't like wind farms because they are hazardous to birds. I really need someone to explain this rational.
