ACLU Transgender Justice with the ACLU’s LGBT & HIV Project

Bio

Kris Hayashi has been active in social, racial, and economic justice movements for over 30 years and specifically within LGBT movements for the last 20. Kris is currently the Director of Advocacy and Action at the National LGBTQ Taskforce. Previously, Kris served as the Executive Director at the Transgender Law Center (TLC). TLC is the largest national trans-led organization advocating self-determination for all people. Grounded in legal expertise and committed to racial justice, TLC employs a variety of community-driven strategies to keep transgender and gender nonconforming people alive, thriving, and fighting for rights and justice. Previously, Kris served as the Executive Director/Co-Director of the Audre Lorde Project (ALP), a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans, and Gender Non-Conforming People of Color organizing center based in New York City. Prior to ALP, he served as Executive Director of Youth United for Community Action, a youth organizing group in California, led by young people of color organizing for social and environmental justice. Kris currently serves on the board of the California Endowment.
