Chief Communications Officer
Michele Moore joined the American Civil Liberties Union as Chief Communications Officer in September 2015. In this capacity, she oversees all communications and marketing for the organization.
Moore brings to the ACLU a 20-year track record of leadership that spans the industry from media relations, crisis communications and public affairs to brand building and marketing for non-profits, government, Fortune 500 companies and academia. With a combination of legal training (she received her JD from Howard University) and a deep background in strategic communications, Moore has served in senior leadership positions at the National Urban League, Temple University, Lifetime Television, BET, and Nickelodeon. Her professional accomplishments are also diverse. They range from increasing public engagement in President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative via social media to orchestrating publicity launches at Nickelodeon – introducing to the world hits like Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants, which became billion-dollar global franchises.
Moore also served as Director of Communications and Press Secretary for New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial.
