Taslim Tavarez is a Paralegal at the ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project (IRP). Before joining IRP, Taslim interned at the American Immigration Council and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA). At MOIA, she recruited and coordinated volunteers for We Speak NYC, an English Language Learning program. Through the Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship, she interned at Aidha, a Singaporean non-profit that provides financial literacy courses to migrant domestic workers. A Dreamer herself, at Pace University she founded ABRIR, an organization that provides college application workshops for undocumented high school students. Taslim is a 2017 Truman Scholar. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Pforzheimer Honors College at Pace University in 2018.
