Bio
Jina John is senior policy counsel for AI, Privacy, and Technology at the ACLU, where she advocates for policies that ensure emerging technologies do not impinge on privacy and other rights. Jina has nearly a decade of experience in tech law and policy.
Prior to joining the ACLU, Jina worked at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where she advocated for civil rights protections in AI and privacy regulation. She also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Bureau of Internet & Technology at the NY Attorney General's Office, where she investigated companies for harms stemming from online threats. Previously, Jina worked as a privacy and cybersecurity attorney in private practice. She is a graduate of New York University and Harvard Law School.
