Bio


Malhar Shah is a senior staff attorney with the ACLU Disability Rights Program where he litigates cases challenging disability discrimination in the context of education, parental rights, treatment for substance use disorder, guardianships, and policing.

Before joining the ACLU, Malhar worked for six years as the special education attorney with the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund in Berkeley, California. There, he successfully litigated cases challenging discriminatory school policing practices, inadequate literacy curricula, and deficiencies in California's monitoring of special education practices. This work earned him the Daily Journal's CLAY award and recognition as a top 100 lawyer in California.

Malhar graduated from Harvard Law School in 2017. He is admitted to practice law in California and before multiple federal district courts.
