Murder is Murder

Murder is Murder

By Becca Cadoff, Reproductive Freedom Project at 12:07pm
Almost five years ago, the life of a man – a physician and father of four widely regarded as kind, compassionate, and dedicated to his patients – was abruptly ended. On a Sunday in late May of 2009, while Dr. George Tiller handed out flyers at his church in Wichita, Kansas, he was shot in the head at point blank range by Scott Roeder. What had Dr. Tiller done wrong? He was a doctor who provided legal, constitutionally protected medical care to women. But all Scott Roeder saw was an abortion provider, and Scott Roeder believes that abortion is wrong.

By Becca Cadoff, Reproductive Freedom Project at 7:35pm

A few days ago, Mie Lewis blogged on the importance, and challenges, of protecting women in the criminal justice system. A recent report by the Rebecca Project and the National Women's Law Center illustrates these points well. The report graded each…

Just in time for Thanksgiving, it's time to give thanks to our favorite wingwoman: Birth control.

North Carolina Politicians Taking Ladies for a Ride

By Becca Cadoff, Reproductive Freedom Project at 11:19am

UPDATE (July 25, 2013): The #motorcyclevagina bill just passed the Senate and is on its way to the Governor. But North Carolinians still don’t want politicians meddling in health care decisions. It seems legislators still haven’t gotten…

Stand with Texas Women

Stand with Texas Women

By Becca Cadoff, Reproductive Freedom Project at 11:47am

Last week, when Wendy Davis stood for over 13 hours to filibuster a sweeping anti-abortion bill, some suggested that Davis is a modern Wonder Woman. Millions of us watched - proud, inspired, awestruck - into the wee hours of the morning last week,…

By Becca Cadoff, Reproductive Freedom Project at 4:44pm

Yesterday, we filed a lawsuit in Arkansas to challenge what was, for a short time, the most extreme abortion ban in the nation. Don't be mistaken though, the Arkansas law is still outrageous - banning most abortions just a few weeks after a…
