Chelsea Manning Faces Charges for Trying to Take Her Own Life

Imprisoned whistleblower Chelsea Manning received a document from Army officials informing her that she is being investigated for serious new charges related to her July 5th attempt to take her own life.

If convicted of these “administrative offenses,” she could be placed in indefinite solitary confinement for the remainder of her decades-long sentence.

Since she was first taken into custody in 2010, Chelsea, a transgender woman being forced to serve out her sentence in an all-male prison, has been subjected to long stretches of solitary confinement and denied medical treatment related to her gender dysphoria.

These new charges, which Army employees verbally informed Chelsea were related to the July 5th incident, include, “resisting the force cell move team;” “prohibited property;” and “conduct which threatens.”  If convicted, Chelsea could face punishment including indefinite solitary confinement, reclassification into maximum security, and an additional nine years in medium custody. They may negate any chances of parole.

In addition to these new charges, The Army continues to deny Chelsea access to basic health care, including inadequate medical treatment after her suicide attempt.

Chelsea dictated the complete contents of the charge sheet to a supporter over the phone; the transcription can be found here.

I am so disgusted by these barbaric actions from my goverment that I truly can not find the words to truly express my objections to these disgusting atrocities against Ms. Mannings and Humanity. It would appear the United States of America has become nothing less than the anti christ, may God have mercy on her soul for these hennious crimes.

I had been wondering why Chelsea got such a light sentence. I am disappointed about the suicide attempt, glad that she failed, and relieved that it may lead to additional time in custody.

This is an absolute disgrace, isn't her gender issue a last decade issue? Then all of her rights are taken away and we as a country now want to punish her for trying to end her misery? And YES I say WE AS A COUNTRY because we do have the say in what our government and military do, it just takes using your voice, name, and time as an American. We need to do something to protect those who are minorities in the Military and Government, after all we're doing it everywhere else.

Every time I tried to kill myself when I was a teenager, I went to jail instead of the hospital and I'm not even gay. I just lived in a Republican family who decided that everyone who does that is "doing it just to get attention" (that they're not going to give you even on threat of being water-boarded) so let's just put her in jail for the behavior problem.

so much needless harassing of a troubled human who might - and probably will - succeed in her attempts to get out of her hellish situation in a pine box

I can tell you one thing: there's something the hell wrong with the Army. They think they can tell my brother to tell ME that I'M not allowed to say certain things because I'm "related to a soldier" and they don't want what I say on Social Media to do anything to their so-called public image.
They own HIM not me, I don't understand why they even told him that at all. My daughter's godfather, who was in the Army (as a sky soldier and more) for 8 years, told me not to listen to it, but I did consider it at least a little because I have no idea what they'll do to him if I don't heed the advice. I don't trust my own government, isn't THAT nice? Well I've seen too many movies & I'm prone to mild paranoia.
Richard said that whoever made the statement is totally full of their own power, tripping on it the way people did on acid in the 60's (he's a Vietnam Veteran.) He left the Army in the late 70's, when information didn't travel as fast, and in terms of spreading to other countries, didn't move at all. I'm thinking that's why they said it but they still don't own me and I don't talk about Army-related issues on social media.
I just think there's something wrong with expecting immediate members of the soldier's family to do that.

Give me a break. If this clown was just an average soldier, none of you whiners would give a damn.

If a person thinks they're a dog, then should they shit outside ? I don't care if a pretty woman wants to go into men's bathrooms but I wouldn't want uglies like Ellen Lee DeGeneres and Rosie T. O'Donnell shitting in any bathroom as they're ugly so Ellen & Rosie can shit in diapers. Ellen Lee DeGeneres & Rosie T. O'Donnell both probably like to have farting & shitting contests in bathrooms, so Ellen & Rose both want to do battleshits contest in men's bathrooms since women's toilets got dirtied by them.

Truth about homosexuality's dangers don't change and truth must be told though information war is lost. Homosexual/lesbian conduct is bad for health like tobacco & needs to be treated like tobacco use by adults. If willing & knowing adults want to use tobacco or do gay/lesbian conduct, then that's their life, but it must be treated as harmful like tobacco is. I know what APA, mainstream psychologists & psychiatrists say about gay/lesbian conduct, but they are ideologues. I think that they must make it a crime to do sex changes.
