Whose Lawyer? The People's Lawyer.

Today a group of former CIA directors sent a letter to President Obama asking him to kill Attorney General Eric Holder's investigation into the torture and abuse of detainees in U.S. custody. Clearly these CIA directors have forgotten one key thing: this isn't the president's decision to make.

Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU's National Security Program, said in a statement today:

The suggestion that President Obama should order Attorney General Holder to abort the investigation betrays a misunderstanding of the role of the attorney general as well as the relationship between the attorney general and the president. Where there is evidence of criminal conduct, the attorney general has not just the authority but the duty to investigate. The attorney general is the people's lawyer, not the president's lawyer, and it would be profoundly inappropriate for President Obama to interfere with his work.

Some of the former CIA directors who signed onto this letter (PDF) were ones who were heading the agency when the torture and abuse was occurring. If this isn't wildly inappropriate for them to be meddling, it's hard to know what is.

red blooded american

they should kill the investigation. These (I hate to call them people) have killed thousands of americans. Hell they should all be lined up in front of a firing squad. Did they think of the rights of all the people the murdered? Who's side is the attorney gerneral on? Should we deport him so he can live with the terrorits groups he is supporting?

As Jameel Jaffer (Director of the ACLU’s National Security Program) said:

"Where there is evidence of criminal conduct, the attorney general has not just the authority but the duty to investigate."

Who is running this country? Is it the CIA (and/or some combination of the numerous other intelligence agencies in this country)? Or are we still a goverment "of the people, by the people, and for the people"?

We, the people, need to take a stand for the rule of law and allow Eric Holder to do his job.

Those C.I.A. directors want Obama to act like Nixon and the sad part is that Obama just might do it.

The ACLU does some good things but when it comes to the practice of maintaining those liberities, that you come to love advocating. They need to stay out of it. Obama should have never stuck his nose into what goes on at Guantanmo. Secondly and anyone should end up in jail for what happen there NEEDS to be Former President George W. Bush, why that man hasn't been put in jail for the war crimes he committed against not only his own country but the invasion of a souvrein country as well.

Back to my original statement I think Col Jeesp from a few good men said it best.
" We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use them as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post."

ACLU IS BULLSH!T WHAT RIGHT DO U HAVE TO TRY AND REMOVE PRAYER FROM THE MILITARY. WHAT FUKING RIGHT DO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE MILITARY SHAPED HEADSTONES FROM CEMETARIES EVERYONE IN ACLU IS FUKING RETARDED, TO HE11 IF I EVER SAVE UR LIVES WHEN WE GET ATTACKED ON OUR HOME FRONT

Did you know that the ACLU has filed a suit to have all military cross-shaped headstones removed and another suit to end prayer from the military completely. They're making great progress. The Navy Chaplains can no longer mention Jesus' name in prayer thanks to the wretched ACLU and our new administration.

It would seem that COINTELPRO (or something akin to it) is alive and well in American. It's thriving, it would seem.

Who will help the targets of this decidedly unAmerican practice? What is taking place right here in America is sadistic, cruel and, dare I say, criminal.

Someone needs to investigate.
