Want to extend your time at the ACLU Advocacy Institute's programs? Join other ACLU Institute students for a week-long exploration of Washington, DC, and New York City following the close of the Institute.

Explore the major memorials and museums, and learn more about history and the role of government in our nation’s capital. Then, head to NYC to check out famous historical sites such as the Statue of Liberty, an immigration policy discussion and tour of Ellis Island, the World Trade Center site, Wall Street, world class museums, and a Broadway show. (Close Up instructors will travel with students to New York City to provide a safe and unforgettable experience!)

Eligibility: All 2019 ACLU Advocacy Institute's program participants.

Program Dates:  

  • DC & NYC Extension Program: Open to all Summer Advocacy Program Students - Friday, July 26 – Thursday, August 1, 2019 
  • NYC Extension Program: Open to all Advanced Advocacy Program Students - Friday, August 2 – Sunday, August 4, 2019

Tuition & Fees:

A tuition fee of $2,600 per student and per extension program covers all experiential learning activities, lodging, off-campus social events, and student meals. Transportation costs are not included in this program’s tuition.

Transportation to and from Washington, D.C., can be arranged by our partner organization, The Close Up Foundation, for an additional cost. Information regarding travel arrangements can be found in the Transportation section of the FAQs.

All students accepted into the ACLU Advocacy Institute are invited to attend. More information on how to register for the New York Extension Program will follow your acceptance into the ACLU Advocacy Institute.
