These September 29, 2017 comments from the ACLU urge the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to include the collection of sexual orientation and gender identity information as part of the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). Inclusion of this information in the NVDRS is a critical step toward a better understanding, and ultimately, a reduction of the rate of homicides and suicides of LGBT people in the United States.
