On August 31st, 2026, the ACLU joined 10 other members in the International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations (INCLO) in a letter to the President of the European Commission, regarding the U.S. Department of State issuing new sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC). The letter discusses how the State Department's legal and political campaign against the ICC erodes the foundations of the multilateral system and of institutions that adjudicate international law, including in the case of international crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
