The ACLU joined 34 other organizations in this letter to the Senate in support of the Open and Responsive Government Act (S. 2220). The legislation would restore a longstanding legal interpretation of the Freedom of Information Act's (FOIA) Exemption 4 for certain commercial information, which the Supreme Court recently expanded in such a way that threatens FOIA's presumption of disclosure and the government's transparency and accountability obligations to the public. The ACLU urges all senators to support this legislation.
